Course Description:

This program examines intimate partner violence (IPV) in LGBTQ communities. Using APA Guidelines for Psychological Practice with LGBT clients as a foundation, it integrates research, theory, and clinical tools such as the Spousal Assault Risk Assessment (SARA). Participants will explore IPV prevalence, unique barriers to help-seeking, culturally specific risk factors, and the impact of stigma, discrimination, and intersectionality. The course emphasizes culturally competent, trauma-informed approaches, discusses the limits of existing IPV risk tools, and provides resources for advocacy and community support.
